2011 News and Events
2011 - Memorable events in 2011 include Comic earning his MACH and Curvy earning her TDX! It was a very good year for limited competitions we attended.
June 2011 - Curvy earned the final Excellent Standard leg in agility to finish her AX. This was a memorable day as it was the first trial she competed in after a 7 month lay-off while she was recovering from immune mediated hemolytic anemia. She went on to earn 2 MXJ legs as well.
April 2011 - Cajun passed the tracking test at the Basset Hound Club of Colorado's inaugural test earning his TD as well as VCD1 titles.
2010 News and Results
July 1-4 Shelly Marx took Curvy to Oklahoma City for 4 days of shows. Curvy came away with 4 BOS placements as well as a 5 point major on the first day and a 4 point major on the second day which finished her CH. Curvy was moved up to the big leagues and was awarded 2 GrCH points on day 3 and a 4 point GrCH major on the last day. Way to go Shelly!!
June 5-6 Comic had his day in the conformation ring again by going Best Opposite Sex and then Best of Breed at the Flatirons Kennel Club shows in Longmont, Colorado. Papillon entries were great which gave him 2 GrCH majors.
April 19 - 24 CCRCA National Specialty in Claremont, California and inaugural specialty for the Northern California Curly-Coated Retriever Club. What a wonderful week we had!
Tenor won Best Veteran in Sweeps at both specialties and received a Award of Merit at both specialties under judges Mr. Dana Cline and Mrs. Kimberly Meredith-Cavanna. Cajun qualified in Novice obedience at the CCRCA specialty and Curvy earned her WCX and qualified for the last leg of her CD (giving her a VCD1 title as well) at the CCRCA specialty then went on to win Winners Bitch (5 point major) and an Award of Merit at the NCCCRC specialty under judge Mrs. Meredith-Cavanna.
February 12 - 15 - Curvy finished her Open Standard and Open Jumpers agility titles and qualified for her first 2 Novice FAST legs at the Colorado Kennel Club agility trial in Denver, Colorado
2009 News and Results
December 6 - Curvy qualifies for her tracking dog title at the first ever tracking test put on by the Buckhorn Valley Kennel Club at Lory State Park outside of Ft. Collins, Colorado.
September - November - lots of agility trials in Colorado. Curvy has earned her NAP, NJP, NA and NAJ this fall. In Rally, Cajun finished his RN title and Tenor earned 2 more legs towards his RAE title.
April 21-25 Curly-coated retriever national specialty in St. Louis, MO. Curvy earns her Upland Working Certificate and completes her Novice Rally title. Tenor earns another leg towards his Rally AE title and Comic has a fine time competing in the all breed agility trial.
April 10-12 - Comic earns 2 more "double Q's" and finished his MX at the Mile-High Golden Retriever Club agility trial in Castle Rock, CO
February 13 - 16 Colorado Kennel Club and Plum Creek Kennel Club were a success for both Comic and Curvy. Comic earned 3 MX and 3 MXJ legs while picking up 2 more "double Qs." Curvy added 2 more points towards her AKC championship by winning Best of Breed both of the days she was entered.
2008 News and Results
October 25-26 - Curvy passes back to back junior hunter tests in Navajo Dam, New Mexico at the Albuquerque Retriever Club and Labrador Retriever Club of Albuquerque Fall Hunt Tests to finish her JH title!
September 26 - Comic gets his third and final leg to complete his AX title at the Front Range Agility Association of Denver trial in Castle Rock, Colorado.
September 6 - Curvy passed another hunt test for her second JH leg at the Mile High Golden Retriever Club hunt test at Stillroven Farms in Berthoud, Colorado.
August 9 - Curvy passes an AKC hunt test to earn a Junior Hunter leg! This also qualifies her for the CCRCA's WC title. Not bad for an almost 9 month old puppy!
May 31 - June 1 - Tenor wins a Group 3 under Mrs. Susan St. John Brown and a Group 4 under Mr. Dale Simmons at the Flatirons Kennel Club in Longmont, Colorado.
May 23 - Comic wins a 4 point major under Mrs. E. E. Mathis to finish his Championship at the Langley Kennel Club show in Hampton, Virginia.
May 16 - 18 - Curvy competes in her first dog shows at just 6 months of age and wins a Puppy Group 4, a Puppy Group 3 and Best of Breed over a special for her first point under judge Mrs. Lee Canalizo at the Durango Kennel Club shows in Cortez, Colorado
May 17 - Comic is Winners Dog and Best of Winners at the Mattaponi Kennel Club in Manassas, Virginia under judge Mr. Alfred J. Ferruggiaro for a 4 point major!
May 9 - 10 Curly-Coated Retriever National Specialty in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Tenor wins an Award of Merit under judge Ms. Dorothy McDonald and competes in Rally Excellent for a 3rd place and Rally Advanced for a 1st place to earn his first REX leg.
March 9 - Tenor is awarded a Group 3 by Mrs. Judith Brown at the Garden City, Kansas Kennel Club in Garden City, Kansas.
March 7 - Comic wins Best of Winners in Garden City, Kansas under Mrs. Corky Gauger.
January 2008 - Caballus Black Swan or "Curvy," as she is known, made the long trip from Finland and has settled in with the boys. Curvy was bred by Tiina Illukka at Caballus.

November 11 - Tenor wins a Group 3 under Dr. Ronald Spritzer at the Southern Colorado Kennel Club show in Pueblo, Colorado
November 10 - Tenor wins Group 1 under Mrs. Lorraine Bisso at the Southern Colorado Kennel Club show in Pueblo, Colorado
October 27 + 28 - Tenor earns 2 junior hunter legs to complete his JH title at the Albuquerque Retriever Club and Labrador Retriever Club of Albuquerque in Navajo Dam, New Mexico
October 13 + 14 - Tenor wins back to back Group 1's under judges Ms. Virginia Lyne and Mr. Dana Cline at the Valencia Valley Kennel Club of New Mexico shows in Los Lunas, New Mexico!
September 16 - Tenor wins Group 4 under Mrs. Judith Brown at the Salina Kennel Club show in Salina, Kansas
June 15 - Cajun wins Nov Pref JWW at the Curly-Coated Retriever Club of America National Specialty in Racine Wisconsin
June 14 - Tenor wins Open A and his third and final CDX leg and Cajun earns his first Rally Novice leg with a 2nd place at the Curly-Coated Retriever Club of America National Specialty in Racine Wisconsin
June 13 - Tenor qualifies in the WC at the Curly-Coated Retriever Club of America National Specialty in Racine Wisconsin
June 3 - Tenor qualifies for his 2nd JH leg at the Colorado Women's Retriever club hunt test in Platteville, Colorado
June 2- Tenor wins Group 1 under Mr. Douglas Johnson at the Flatirons Kennel Club show in Longmont, Colorado
May 28 - Comic wins Group 3 under Ms Denny Mounce at the Laramie Kennel Club show in Laramie, Wyoming.
May 27 - Comic wins Group 4 under Mrs Doris Cozart at the Laramie Kennel Club show in Laramie, Wyoming.
March 11 - Tenor wins Group 4 under Norman Patton at the Garden City Kennel Club show in Garden City, Kansas
March 10 - Tenor wins Group 2 under judge Dr. J Donald Jones at the Garden City Kennel Club show in Garden City, Kansas. Papillon "Comic" was Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best of Breed in his first dog show for 2 points
February 18 - Tenor wins BOB under judge Marjorie Martorella and takes Group 4 under judge Elizabeth Muthard. He then won the owner-handler Sporting Group and as well as owner-handler Best in Show at the Colorado Kennel Club shows in Denver, Colorado
February 17 - Cajun qualifies in Excellent Standard for his 10th and final MX leg at the Colorado Kennel Club agility trial in Denver, Colorado
February 16 - Tenor qualifies in Open A with a 2nd place to earn his 2nd CDX leg at Plum Creek Kennel Club and Cajun qualifies in Excellent Standard with a 4th place for his 9th MX leg at the Colorado Kennel Club agility trial in Denver, Colorado
January 20 - Cajun qualifies in Excellent JWW to earn his 10th and final MXJ leg at the Denver Samoyed Association trial in Golden, Colorado
January 14 - Cajun qualifies in Excellent JWW for his 9th MXJ leg at the Columbine State Poodle Club trial in Castle Rock, Colorado
January 13 - Cajun qualifies in Excellent JWW for his 8th MXJ leg at the Columbine State Poodle Club trial in Castle Rock, Colorado
January 6 + 7 - "Mattie" - Ch Daybreak All That Matters WC, finished her CD at the Land o' Lakes Kennel Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mattie is a Tenor daughter. She was bred, owned and trained by the Johnstons at Daybreak curlies http://www.daybreakcurlies.com Way to go Steve and Mattie!!

November 11 - Cajun earns his 7th MXJ leg at the Flatirons Kennel Club trial in Longmont, CO
October 21 - Cajun earns a leg in Excellent Standard for his 8th MX leg at the Front Range Agility Association of Denver trial in Golden, CO
October 14 - Tenor is Best of Breed at the Tupelo Kennel Club following the National Specialty in Memphis, TN.
October 13 - TENOR IS BEST OF BREED AT THE CURLY-COATED RETRIEVER NATIONAL SPECIALTY under breeder judge Dr. Tiina Illukka in Memphis, Tennessee.
Tenor son Tumbleweed Who'll Stop the Rain ("Mikey") is Best of Winners at the National Specialty for a 5 point major!
October 12 - Tenor wins Rally Excellent B to complete his RE and is 3rd in Open A for his first CDX leg at the Curly-Coated Retriever National Specialty in Memphis, Tennessee.
Tenor son Clarion Krewe of Barkus ("Jester") earns his WCX and finishes his RN
Tenor daughter Daybreak All That Matters ("Mattie") earns her first CD leg
September 17 - Tenor wins Rally Excellent B for his second RE leg at the Flatirons Kennel Club trial in Longmont, CO.
September 16 - Tenor passes the junior hunt test for his first JH leg at the Mile High Golden Retriever Club test held at Stillroven Farms in Mead, CO.
June 9-10 - Cajun qualifies for his 6th and 7th MX legs at the Mile Hi Golden Retriever Club agility trial in Castle Rock, CO.
May 6-7 - Tenor qualified in Rally Advanced to finish his RA and earned his first Rally Excellent leg at the Mountain States Dog Training Club trials in Brighton, CO.
April 16 - Cajun qualifies for his 5th MX leg at the Mile Hi Golden Retriever Club agility trial in Castle Rock, CO.
April 8-9 - Tenor placed 1st and 4th in Novice B obedience to finish his CD title and earned his first two Rally Advance legs with a 1st and a 3rd place at the Terry-All Kennel Club shows in Brighton, CO.
March 12 - Cajun qualifies in Excellent Standard for his 4th MX leg and in JWW for his 6th MXJ leg at the FRAAD trial in Castle Rock, CO.
February 27 - Cricket delivered 6 puppies. 1 black boy, 2 liver boys, 2 black girls and 1 liver girl. Please see the page for more information.
February 17 - 20 Plum Creek and Colorado Kennel Club shows: Tenor won BOB on the 17th and 18th, and competed in Rally Novice for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place completing his RN title. Cajun qualified in JWW on the 18th and 20th for his 4th and 5th MXJ legs. Tenor's daughter Candy finished her Championship with a 3 point major on the 17th under Mrs. Suzanne Dillon.
January 25 - Cricket has been confirmed pregnant!
January 15 - Cajun qualified for his 3rd MXJ leg at the Columbine State Poodle Club trial in Castle Rock, CO
January 1 - Tenor has been bred to Cricket. Please see the LITTERS page for more information.
